CLO – Blackout Project Details
CLO – Blackout was produced and recorded at Spitfire Studio in Laurel Canyon California by Warren Huart.
This song a pop song, with a catchy hook, was produced with a very slight latin influence in the guitars and string arrangement. When I listened to the song for the first time, I felt for a more latin percussive feel. Immediately, I went to work on creating some accompanying percussion such as cabassas and congos. This was yet not enough for me, so I created a completely new beat that changed styles between the versus and chorus. The chorus had more of a reggaeton beat, while the versus had a beat similar to samba but faster. I also changed the beat in the transitions from the chorus back to the versus with a congo/tom-tom rhythmic beat reminiscent of the mid 1900’s cuban music.
Blackout by CLO is her debut song which also was used within a worldwide remix contest hosted by Warren Huart and CLO.
Hope you enjoy.
